Cheeseburger tacos

  • Ingredients

    Ingredients for 4 portions:

    4 burger patties, 150-180 grams

200 grams of bacon in thick slices

2 medium onions, cut into rings

    salt and pepper

    60 grams butter

8 corn tortillas, approx. 15-20cm in diameter

    rocket

    100 ml mayonnaise

    Sriracha hot chili sauce

    some lime juice, fresh

200 grams cheddar cheese, grated or sliced

    Salsa or taco sauce

    Chopped coriander leaf

  • Preparation

Heat the Monolith with the plancha to approx. 160-180°C. Mix the mayonnaise with a little sriracha sauce and lime juice. Grill the bacon on the plancha until crispy, then set aside on kitchen paper. Grill the onions and burger patties in the bacon fat and season with salt and pepper. When the patties have reached the desired degree of doneness, cut them in half to fit better into the taco that will be formed later.

Brush the tortillas with a little salsa sauce and top with the burger patty, onions, bacon, cheese, rocket and chilli lime mayonnaise, fold them up and fry on the plancha with a little butter. Turn carefully several times until they are crispy on the outside and the cheese has melted.

Serve with more chili lime mayonnaise, coriander leaves and more salsa sauce.
Tip: Instead of the plancha, you can also cook the tacos on the griddle or in the lid of the Monolith Dutch Oven.

The right tortillas are important. Wheat tortillas also work, but do not roast as nicely as corn tortillas and are nowhere near as crispy. However, the crunchy texture of the tacos is what makes this recipe so special.
