The culinary insider tip in Trøndelag
Through the picturesque Inderøy region, just two hours north of Trondheim, Olaf's journey continued along the famous "Golden Bypass". This idyllic region, surrounded by impressive fjords, not only offered him warm encounters and cozy accommodation, but also a wealth of regional specialties that made a lasting impression on him.
In Inderøy, Olaf found exactly what he was looking for: the perfect blend of nature, relaxation and culinary highlights. Here, in the heart of Trøndelag, he experienced moments of pleasure that he would not soon forget.

Øyna - Overnight stay with fjord view
Olaf's first stop was at Øyna Kulturlandskapshotell, which towers high above the fjord. The unusual architecture, with grass-covered roofs and rooms carved into the mountain, reminded him of a hobbit cave. The panoramic view of the fjord and the town of Straumen was breathtaking. Olaf particularly enjoyed dinner in the restaurant, where he sampled a 3-course menu made from local ingredients. The creative cuisine at Øyna perfectly reflected the diversity and quality of the region.

Husfrua Gårdshotell - History you can touch
Next, Olaf spent the night at Husfrua Gårdshotell, a charming farmhouse dating back to 1867. The historic building was transported over 800 kilometers to be rebuilt here. Surrounded by cowbells and the tranquillity of the fjord, Olaf felt like he had been transported back in time. The central location meant he could easily explore the nearby cheese dairies and cideries on foot - a real bonus for a curious explorer like him.
Culinary highlights on the Golden Detour

Svein's Golden Aquavit
Olaf met Svein Berfjord, an innovative farmer and butcher who has created something unique with his "Golden Aquavit". The digestif, made from local ingredients such as rowan berries, meadowsweet flowers and honey, impressed Olaf with its depth and special aroma. For him, this aquavit was a real flagship for the region.

Gangstad cheese dairy - A taste experience
The Gangstad cheese dairy was an absolute highlight for Olaf. Here he tasted a blue cheese that immediately inspired him to create an unusual barbecue recipe...

Inderøy honey - Sweet memories
But one ingredient was still missing: Tonje Kvam's honey was another highlight for Olaf. Summer honey that tasted of wild raspberries and summer flowers and winter honey with an intense heather blossom aroma. The deep connection to nature in Inderøy is also reflected in Olaf's recipe.
