This trip was more than just a culinary adventure. It was an immersion into the soul of Ireland's west coast - full of longing, sea breezes and unforgettable flavors. If you really want to feel Ireland, go to Galway. Let yourself drift, take a deep breath and try the oysters.
Special tip: Gran Gran's Foods Pantry not only serves sensational coffee, but also home-baked pastries, bread and so many homemade sauces and jams that you'll be amazed. Plus a super selection of regional specialties such as cheese and sausage.
Inspired by the countryside, the landscape, local ingredients, traditional preparation and, of course, a passion for barbecuing - interpreted in a modern way, directly on the MONOLITH ICON.
Dingle. Even the name sounds like longing and that's exactly what I found there: Colorful alleyways, warm people, honest cuisine and an incredible density of pub culture.
This small town on the western tip of Ireland is a real gem. As colorful, lively and rugged as the Atlantic itself. The focus of my trip this time was lamb and I can say with conviction: the best in Ireland. Grazing, salty sea air and wild herbs make the meat here particularly tender and aromatic.
Galway. A city that immediately sneaks into your heart. Lively, rough & charming. Cobblestones, street music and the salty tang of the Atlantic. Here, tradition and modernity merge in a very special way. And what you definitely can't miss here: fish. Fresh, straight from the sea, honest and full of flavor.
Clam Chowder - probably the most famous dish in Ireland. Creamy, hearty, with mussels, bacon, dill and the taste of the Atlantic. For me, clam chowder is more than just a dish. It's Ireland in a bowl.
West Cork. A region that quietly but deeply creeps into your heart with its untouched nature, rugged coastline and rolling hills.
Here, Ireland is still wild, green and full of surprises. And that's exactly what I experienced when I visited Maria and her husband from Atlantic Sea Kayaking.
There's even sea spaghetti - yes, you heard right! And that's exactly what we picked up and used later for our BBQ together.
